Castlemaine to Phillip Is Vic.
Mikael doesn’t sleep well and was up early fetching the best ever croissants for breakfast and Roy had soft boiled egg from the chooks, fresh laid! His insomnia was certainly a bonus for our breakfast! I think the only way to get better croissants would be to pop over to Paris!!
We planted a beautiful little silver princess tree (Eucalyptus caesia) in the friendship grove and Mikael said a dedication and sprinkled confetti to confirm it.

Today we honour the visit to our property by our good friends, Fiona and Roy, by planting and dedication a tree to add to our Friendship Avenue. The Friendship Avenue is a planting of Silver Princesses, a variety of Eucalyptus caesia, which is a small Australian ornamental native tree that is endemic in the Western Australia wheat belt but grows well in this region. It is known by the First Peoples of Australia as a Gungurru.
Each tree along the first row represents a family that has stayed overnight with us; the second row commemorates a particular celebration with friends that is of special importance to us.
This particular tree that Fiona and Roy have planted today symbolises the way our friendship has grown and blossomed over the years. Similar to how our friendship began, this tree will grow from a fragile and humble beginning to become a slender, graceful tree with beautiful red flowers. And every time we look at this tree, we will think of you as our dear friends and the day you planted it.
Success!! A beautiful tree underway which survived a big storm in subsequent days.

Following the big ceremony, we headed off for Phillip Is on the freeway. Somehow we missed the ring road and went through Melbourne, which wasn't on the plan but we survived.
We were getting a big hungry by the time we got through Melbourne, but there's no way off that freeway! Finally we managed to find a café along the way for a brief hot choc stop and then headed straight to the track on Phillip Is. Sometime after 4pm we headed into Cowes for our accommodation -and a cuppa and cookie.
Long day!
Pete G had been in residence of the Airbnb since Thursday, but the key lock worked well.
We walked into Cowes which was over flowing with people due to the weekend racing . Finally we found a restaurant, La Porcetta for a yummy pizza before crashing for the night.
Pizza hit the spot!
