Last day on board MV Rodney Fox
| Another beautiful day dawns on board. |
Surface view of an interested great white. The gulls love the chum.
Early morning, and the bottom diving cage
Up at 7am so as not to miss breakfast, and the boat shifted location . The plan is to do a single but long bottom cage dive and then to focus on the surface cage diving before heading back to Pt Lincoln.
| The crane that lifts the bottom cage up and down. |
We were first up for a cage dive this morning . Almost half the depth of yesterday’s dive at around 16m. We saw a single shark on the way down, then a whole lot, maybe 5-6 turned up and circled the cage the whole time we were down which was about 45’. |
| Just cruising |
| Curiosity plus plus |
| Back for another look |
Although the water was warmer than expected I added my Lycra suit under the froggy vest-hood then the 7mm wetsuit! I didn’t get uncomfortably cold. But its always nice to be back on the surface with a nice hot shower and cuppa!
| At the bottom of the ocean, lights, camera, action! |
We had a nice hot lunch in the galley and then weighed anchor; quite a few hours of travel back to port. Fortunately the seas were not rough. I didn't see anyone ill during the whole trip but we will be glad to stop taking sea sick pills!! They really dry your mouth. The sun came out and we enjoyed sitting at the back of the boat and watching the scenery.
| Gulls flocking in after the chum |
| Farewell Neptune Is. Abandoned house on island. |
| Mesmerising watching the wake and gulls |
Cheese platter and party pies for snacks, spent up on merch.
| Not strictly merch but pretty nice all the same! |
Stayed overnight at the Marina Hotel again which was a lovely spot for a chilled out and relaxing evening. Loads of space to reorganise the luggage and as a bonus, a guest laundry so we could do a bit of washing and drying in the morning before leaving.

| Port Lincoln harbour sunset |
Tomorrow the adventure continues- on land.
Trivia: The weight in the shoulder harness (blue straps) worn to go to the ocean floor in the cage was 14-15lbs of lead plus the tank weight. Although I could barely move on land carrying all this, I was still very buoyant in the ocean. We didn't wear the usual buoyancy control (BC) vest as that could be a risk of inflation and floating out of the cage! NOT a good idea! |
| Lead weights and tank on. Lycra suit, vest with hood and 7mm wetsuit. I'm stuck. |
